Plan ahead this bank holiday weekend

Pharmacist

Health bosses are encouraging people to plan ahead this bank holiday and pick up any repeat prescriptions early to make sure they have enough to see them through the weekend.

Anyone taking regular medication is being urged to make sure that they have ordered their prescriptions in advance of the bank holiday so they aren’t at risk of running out.

There will be changes to opening times for some local healthcare services over the bank holiday weekend, including some closures on Monday 29 August. However, there will always be somewhere to go for medical treatment and advice.

Many minor complaints can be treated by staying at home, getting plenty of rest and making sure you have a well-stocked medicine cabinet.

Pharmacies aren’t just the place to pick up prescriptions; they’re trained to offer expert medical advice to help people treat themselves for many common conditions, such as colds, flu, stomach bugs and aches and pains. They’ll also be able to help you access other medical services if you need them.

A list of pharmacy opening times for Monday 29 August can be found on the three CCG websites:

Bank holiday weekends can be very busy for emergency services, so please remember that A&E is for serious and life-threatening emergencies only. Find out more about alternative services that are available by visiting Stay Well website - www.nhs.uk/staywell/
