Using patient and public insight, experience and involvement to reduce health inequality and drive improvement

As a CCG our decisions should be based on the use of patient and public insight, experience and involvement (PPIEI) to identify, explore and fully understand the causes, consequences, impact and interdependencies of health inequalities and health inequities, which in turn inform the decisions we make.

While this is something we have previously achieved, it is not been something that has necessarily been undertaken systematically nor with a documented strategic approach to guide our commissioners through the process.

Our recently-published strategic approach intends to address that gap and sets out how we wish to achieve this on a more consistent and effective basis moving forward.
